Strange feelings.....more than friends? or just playing around?

There's this guy and he is SO sweet and we are seat partners for 2 periods. I give him silly nicknames and he does the same for me. I don't feel physically attracted to him, though. One girl (I hate her and she hates me) went up to us and said, (rudely), "UGHH YOU GUYS LIKE EACH OTHER??!!!" Awkward.....I don't know if I like him as a friend or more because he's really nice. I want to keep our friendship but then i feel that if he was my boyfriend it would be awkward because, again, I'm not physically attracted to him. I don't know what to do with these mixed feelings because with all the nicknames and stuff it really DOES sound like I like him!!!! IDK WHAT TO DO!!!! Should we be friends or more?!!!
