Christians, if you had to choose between having no chaplains in the army, and having chaplains who couldn't...?

The chaplains are supposed to be non-denominational in terms of dealing with individuals. I can see their usefulness at times. Just because we don't all agree on religion, non-religion and any subset thereof, sometimes a token spiritual person could prove comforting. My son's reliigious preference on his dog tags was "NP" -- no preference -- and he told me he used the Marine-issue Bible to cushion his shoulder when firing his rifle. Still, the Navy chaplain came along with the first group of Marines sent to condole me and my family over my son's loss. When I confirmed to them that the chaplain would have no function at the memorial, he was gracious and understanding, and didn't say another word. I wouldn't take that choice away from someone who wanted it.
