Im worried about my sons skills?

okay i took my son to the psychologist to get examined because i think hes behind in somethings but the psychologist said he was severly slow, way behind in learning has poor eye contact and is not curious. I had to stay in the front while they went to the examination room. He told my son would have to go to a special school but at home he knows things such as pics of animals, how to ask for things etc but the psychologist said he couldnt give me a name of his condition so could it be autism??
